I may need to take a ridiculously long drive this weekend just to pick one up! (It's all high fructose corn syrup now but ah well, nostalgia has 0 calories.) You too, man!
Yeah, it's strange, right? Although it makes sense to me that not everything benefits the most from a factual exposition. (Maybe we ought to try that a little less often!) Thanks a ton for reading, Hasse.
There is an A and W in Fond Du Lac where my sister lives. We used to stop there on rare outstanding occasions when I was a kid, travelling across central California. Root beer freeze man...dip your fries in it.
Ohhh, Lithe language. :) One an audio note, you can really increase the background ambient if you wish. It's really light, so if you aren't wearing headphones it doesn't come through. I struggle with making the background too quiet as well, but Frank Zappa said nothing cuts through the mix like spoken word.
The village bit is interesting. I think we've lost village life. It has it pros and cons but there is a everyone-has-their-purpose communal feeling there for sure.
Yeah, what I do is I put my audio at 50%, and then try to edit from there. (As I said, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.) Good to know it can be pushed farther if need be; I consider the ambient stuff a nice extra I suppose but all good if it's too soft. I'll try bumping it up more. (Also, neither here nor there but I'm willing to hear Zappa out about nearly anything.)
Yeah, I think in order to have a village, it requires a certain kind of routine and lifestyle that's harder to find now. We live in a very small town, but even that experience is different for my daughter than it was for me at her age. It's something I think we need to strive for, but it's certainly a challenge. Thanks again for listening!
Great way to make the familiar the uncanny! Enjoyed this one a lot.
Hey, thanks, I’m glad! I find this to be a great way to recall dreams in greater detail, too; much more effective than straight exposition.
It's all about that root beer freeze lol - Hope all is well dude!

"Contend, attain, return is the custom."
Thanks for sharing. It is incredible how profound and direct some dreams can be.
Once again, I'm struck with how well poetry can reflect that sense of dreamlike consciousness.

You got it! Root beer freeze, the precursor to the Frosty & fries. Excellent at any time of year.
