I also find it difficult to connect to the parents of my kids friends, we have almost nothing in common besides being parents of kids who are friends.

It's weird, right? At least in my neck of the woods, most folks have similar jobs, live in similar houses and go do similar activities; we're the odd ones out in almost every way.

This resonates, James. "Happenstance making introductions" is exactly how I feel about the past several months with the Inwits ... certainly unexpected and a kind of camaraderie I hadn't realized I was missing.

Wow this was really good, James! You tied it all together in the end with St. Brendan.

These lines are pitch perfect:

"I didn’t play an instrument back then, but I did play with words"

"While I wasn’t looking, I have become a bit of a strange individual."

I relate to you, man. Of course I do, we're writers. Nobody wants to talk about or can talk about books at a function. Nope, just tell me about your new sprinkler system. Kill me now!
